Anglesey

Submitted by admin on Fri, 11/20/2009 - 10:18.

Now the main man was back from spain (Andy Machin) i felt confident going into this weekend and i was definately one to watch out for in all the races.

Fridays testing went well and i also had a shot on the new Aprilia RRV 450 bike for a session which was brilliant but i had to focus on the 125 races.

Saturdays weather was perfect and the notorious wind that usually sweeps across the circuit due to it being right next to the coast so i had no excuse to not qualify well. I went out and found myself riding round on my own and was a lowly 11th when the session was red flagged. I went to the top of pit lane and waited for the remainder of the session to begin and i knew what to do and after the last 3 laps i qualifyed 6th but i still don't know whether or not the beginning of the qualifying timing was accurate as the timing company had issues and there were people putting in laps 3 seconds quicker than the lap record which wasn't possible so there was a problem. Race 1 was a great race, my start was another good one and i was battling with 6 riders for the lead and i was picking them off one by one until i got into 2nd place and broke the lap record 3 times before this but on the last lap i crashed at the top of the back straight and was kicking myself for such a costly mistake. Race 2 was exactly the same battling away with 5 of us but i was about to take 3rd place when Andy Reid messed up thr banking where i was dirctly behind him and nearly hit and had to roll off the throttle letting Wayne and Lee through and then the race was chequered flagged early so i had to settle for 5th.

Sundays racing was a different story. In the first race i was battling for the lead with Matt and Wayne when i passed both of them on the brakes and took the lead for 5 laps when conor passed me on the penultimate lap and when i pulled out of his slip stream on the last lap we nearly collided and Wayne and Matt came through but i braked as late as possible and got past Conor and Matt and finshed a well deserved 2nd. The final race was a short 6 lap one because of a warm up lap incident and Andy Reid from the start was on a mission and broke away whilst i passed Lee on the 2nd lap, Matt on the 3rd and wayne on the 4th and i hung onto 2nd place to finish the race there.

It was a brilliant weekend but i was still looking for that first victory however it was there infront of me and i just had to grab it and keep hold of it.
